Hamilton Central Station

Portfolio Categories: Walkways.

BBS manufactured and installed an 80.0m long structural glazed link walkway between Duke street car park and Hamilton Central rail station. The walkway, installed in 2006, had to be designed with specially fabricated joints to withstand the powerful suction forces created by the high speed passing trains.

Glazed with 8mm clear toughened glass to the sides and 4mm clear U/V stable high impact resistant polycarbonate to the roof, like all BBS products, it was built to last, with only top grade materials being used in the construction.

The walkway is fitted with handrails to both sides and is also fitted with integral lighting where all cables were routed internally within the BBS aluminium framework. Draw wires were installed within the roof arches at the BBS factory, which eliminates the need for any external visible conduit.

Client: South Lanarkshire Council.
